User Guide for Demonstrating Happily for Bernie at the 2016 DNC

Bernie goes to the DNC

Jared Pi-Trick put together a helpful User Guide for those planning to demonstrate for Bernie at the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philly – complete with a video giving the reasons the protests must be peaceful:

On July 24th-28th Come to Philadelphia to rally for the future of our Democracy!

The Bernie Sanders presidential Campaign is going all the way to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia this July. Despite the mainstream media’s manipulation of the facts and its insistence that this race is all but over, Bernie is going to finish strong in the primaries and it seems we will open the convention with it being statistically possible for either Democratic Party candidate to clinch the nomination on pledged delegates alone.

It is crucial that American citizens from all walks of life take a stand and show up to support Bernie during the Democratic National Convention, to show the DNC just how committed we are to his nomination as the Democratic Party’s 2016 presidential candidate. It is critical to the viability of our political movement that we do not engage in any aggressive behavior, because the mainstream media is looking for excuses to discredit our movement, dehumanize us and to present Bernie supporters to the general public as thuggish, societal discontents.

No masts, no violence, Just Americans standing up for the future of our nation and the values we know are pivotal to preserving our democracy.

This is not a call to violence this is a call to presence: Rally, March, Demonstrate, and Peacefully protest. Together we can show the DNC that we have the motivation and the momentum to carry our candidate to success in the general election. With any luck we can generate such an enormous response in our support community that we will be a force to be reckoned with simply by being a mass of people too large to be ignored. There is no point in physical conflict, when we have enough people to make the DNC pay attention by simply showing up. Let’s make this Democratic National Convention one to be remembered.

Let’s make Philadelphia so overcrowded with support for Bernie, that the city feels like it is busting apart at the seams. Lets show the DNC what Philadelphia looks like when the rest of America shows up. And most importantly, lets prove that mainstream media has been lying to this nation about our “penchant for violence” and about Bernie’s chances of success.

This video was created for free by passionate supporters of Bernie Sanders with the most sincere hope that it is worth your time to watch and share with others who love him too.

Extensive Overnight and Travel Information by Laurie

Laurie Cestnik has put together this resource list on Facebook filled with useful information about ride-shares, housing, camping and more.

What to bring

  • Bring yourself, Bring your friends. bring Banners and signs (and extra markers etc, to make more signs with), Bring flags and bullhorns. bring cameras so you can show the rest of the world what our movement really looks like.
  • Pack LOTS of water with you (plenty for yourself, and some to share with those who didn’t plan as well), its going to be hot in Philadelphia in July, so keep yourself hydrated. if you are a real go getter, fill up a cooler with ice and bottles of water, to help cool off in the middle of a sweltering July day. it is a good idea to bring some electrolyte powder or sports drinks along as well, when you are sweating you aren’t just losing water, you are losing salt, if you find yourself chugging water and not feeling hydrated, its time to replenish some of your salt.
  • Bring food/snacks along with you. With a huge surplus of people in the streets, restaurants will be nearly impossible to get into, grocery stores will likely have difficulty keeping food in stock. so it is a good idea to bring food along with you from outside locations. again if you can bring extra for your fellow demonstrators, all the better. the more we are able to take care of each other the longer we can stay out to make our voices heard.
  • bring sunscreen, umbrellas, and (if you are planning on staying put for an afternoon instead of marching) pop up tents, to help provide some shade in the mid-day sun. Misters and spray bottles can also be a HUGE help for beating the heat.
  • Bring toilet paper- we will certainly be over taxing the restroom facilities, and TP is one of the first things to run out in situations like this. so keep a roll with you wherever you go. it is also useful for plugging up bloody noses (which can frequently occur from sitting in the sun too long).
  • Ladies! bring extra maxi pads/tampons. even if it is not your “time to shine” it can possibly help out for those who start up early, and those who find themselves in a pinch.
  • bring basic medical supplies, things like bandaids, gauze, ace bandages, cold packs, and antiseptic spray, for cuts scrapes and sprains. accidents happen, people trip and fall down. it is better to have some basic supplies immediately on hand than it is to spend hours looking for the nearest medical assistance.
  • Take good care of yourselves out there folks, and if you can help take care of some of your other demonstrators, please do.

The DNC sabotages Bernie campaign to give #Hillary a boost

Bernie Sanders supporter Ann Rea comments on the story she shared: How the DNC is Sabotaging Bernie “is all over the news, New York Times and Washington Post,” she says.

Tell sign the petition DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz to give voter access back to the Bernie campaign. Dem donations paid for the information and the access – and this is a cheap shot at suppressing Bernie’s ‘on fire’ popularity:

We demand that DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz immediately reinstate the Bernie Sanders campaign’s access to the DNC’s 50-state voter file, which is crucial for voter outreach in the last weeks before the first Democratic caucuses. Shutting down Sanders’ tools to reach voters is an infringement on democracy.
